PARTEC, the prestigious international scientific congress for particle technology, will welcome a new Chair for its next round. At the end of a successful PARTEC 2025, Professor Urs Peuker from the Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg took over the reins from the previous Chair, Professor Lutz Mädler from the Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering at the University of Bremen. The next PARTEC will be held at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg again from 26 to 28 September 2028, and as always will be co-located with POWTECH TECHNOPHARM, the international processing trade fair for powders, bulk solids and liquids.
PARTEC sees itself as an international forum for research and development in particle technology. The triennial congress, which is held in English, brings together scientists and engineers from all around the world. The key topics cover all aspects of particle and powder technology, such as particle formations, agglomeration and coating processes, and various industrial applications for particles.
The next round of PARTEC will take place from 26 to 28 September 2028 at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. It will be co-located with POWTECH TECHNOPHARM, the international processing trade fair for powders, bulk solids and liquids. Professor Urs Peuker has been appointed Chair for 2028. Peuker heads the Institute for Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg and will work with the Executive Committee to shape the concept for PARTEC 2028. “It is an honour to serve as Chair of PARTEC 2028,” said Peuker during the official handover at the closing ceremony for PARTEC 2025. “In the next few years, we are certainly going to be setting some priorities based on current research trends. I see my role as being more of an ambassador and representative of this unique community. PARTEC thrives on the contributions of its participants, and I am already looking forward to them,” stressed Peuker.
Strong partnership in particle technology
The international congress for particle technology is organised by NürnbergMesse with the VDI Association of Process and Chemical Engineering (VDI-GVC) as institutional sponsor. The event also receives support from numerous other associations and organisations. Vivien Manning, Managing Director of VDI-GVC, welcomed the new Chair and thanked the previous incumbent, Professor Lutz Mädler, for his leadership of PARTEC 2025 and the exceptional dedication of his entire team that had resulted in such a successful congress.
“We are immensely proud and delighted that the PARTEC Congress has found a home in Nuremberg. The association with the co-located POWTECH TECHNOPHARM is unique worldwide and promotes dialogue and the crucial links between science and industry in an uncomplicated way,” says a delighted Marianny Eisenhofer, Director POWTECH TECHNOPHARM, about the successful congress. “As organizers, we would like to thank the outgoing Chair Professor Lutz Mädler and the VDI-GVC for the exceptional collaboration! For three days, Nuremberg was truly the centre for particle technology. We are already looking forward to 2028 with Professor Peuker at the helm!”
PARTEC 2025: innovation and sustainability in particle technology at the highest level
PARTEC 2025 attracted around 500 delegates from more than 20 countries, including scientists, industry professionals and researchers. Innovation and sustainability were the dominant topics in the over 400 presentations across 30 themed sessions. PARTEC 2025 offered high-calibre lectures and keynotes, poster sessions, awards ceremonies, and for the first time, a platform for two VDI-GVC ‘young talent’ competitions: chemPLANT and ChemCar. There was also plenty of time and opportunities for networking at PARTEC itself and at POWTECH TECHNOPHARM.
